The GRLI is pleased to announce the appointment of three new members joining the Foundation Board on 1 July 2019.
Julia Christensen Hughes, Dean of the University of Guelph College of Business and Administration, Wayne Visser, Chair in Sustainable Transformation at Antwerp Management School, and Sanjay Sharma, Dean of the Grossman School of Business will be joining the Board for a minimum two-year period. Julia’s appointment to the Board is in the partner representative category. Wayne’s and Sanjay’s appointments to the Board are in the “by invite” category.

Dr. Julia Christensen Hughes was appointed Dean of the College of Business and Economics at the University of Guelph in May of 2009. Previously, she was the Chair of the Department of Management since June 2007.
Julia is an accomplished management scholar who is committed to helping improve the effectiveness of organizations through a strategic approach to human resources management. She is also an advocate for change within higher education and has helped facilitate many national, provincial and local events focused on improving the quality of teaching and learning. Her work on academic integrity has garnered national and international attention. Julia is regularly sought as a keynote speaker and has received a number of awards.
Prof. Dr Wayne Visser is Professor of Integrated Value and Holder of the Chair in Sustainable Transformation at Antwerp Management School. He is also Founder of CSR International, Director of Kaleidoscope Futures and Fellow at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership. His work as a strategy analyst, sustainability advisor, CSR expert, futurist, film producer and professional speaker has taken him to 75 countries in the past 30 years to work with over 150 clients, ranging from Coca-Cola, Dell, DHL and HSBC to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Bank.
Dr. Sanjay Sharma became the Dean of the Grossman School of Business on July 1, 2011. During his tenure, he has been responsible for significant fundraising for the naming of the school as the Grossman School of Business in 2015, 5 new chaired professorships, the doubling of the business school building Kalkin Hall with the addition of Ifshin Hall which was completely funded by alumni, a new Sustainable Innovation MBA Program that is ranked #1 in the US and #5 globally, student scholarships, the creation of a student success center that advises, supports and provides career services for placement success of students. The undergraduate curriculum has also been revamped as a matrix of concentrations and themes that has led to a 23% improvement in selectivity, higher quality students while substantially increasing enrollments.
The governance of GRLI is held by two bodies. The Board of Trustees which fulfills all of the legal responsibilities related to the management of a Foundation, while the Guardian Group represents the interests of the GRLI community and guards the intentions and ethics of the GRLI as a social movement.
